Not sure how my wife would feel about her "portrait" involving her eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but it's a good shot of her wedding ring.

"Is this thing on?"
These "portraits" assignments aren't just way out of my own comfort zone, I still can't get any of my friends to pose for me either...! Camera shy myself (in front of the camera, that is), I've opted for the classic head-in-video-camera-test-recording that should go with a sound bite asking "is this thing on?": ![]() I chose the Venetian blinds as backdrop because I think they provide a nice contrast for a B&W picture. Post-processing with PaintShopPro, increased contrast and brightness, then converted to gray scale. Date picture taken: June 29, 2009 EXIF: Camera: Nikon D40 Exposure: 0.02 sec (1/50) Aperture: f/4.0 Focal Length: 25 mm ISO Speed: 200 Exposure Bias: 0 EV Flash: No Flash More EXIF on flickr (click picture to view).

One of my first attempts at a self-portrait using a tripod and remote shutter release, let alone my first set of self-portraits! A great assignment. I am glad to have time again to get into the mood (summer holidays)! Adjusted exposure, black levels, luminance levels etc in Lightroom 2.
Settings: iso 800/ 74mm/ f4.5/ 1/30sec (Photo taken June 30, 2009) Natural light only (from living room window)/ no reflectors
