I hope this works-I've been trying to post for awhile now! I'm new here (and probably making a crappy first impression by being an airhead-lol), and am a new photographer. I got my Canon Rebel XS for Mother's Day in May and since then, have not put the camera down.

This is my eldest, Natalie, who poses for me without me even asking. I took this in color and edited in Picasa with filter B&W. My only beef with the photo is the tree branch creeping its way into the righthand top corner.

Canon Rebel XS
Exposure: 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

There's a great article on this in past Digital Photography School's files. It nicely explains the post processing procedures using PhotoShop. Basically, though, my recommendation is don't do it in the camers -- use the PhotoShop color channel procedures.

Good luck.
