Smile Point & Shoot VS SLR

A note to everyone with a point and shoot, like myself:

Don't let anyone tell you that you need an SLR to take winning shots. I got second place for "Vivid" with the exact camera I'm using now - on the first try at a DPS assignment, no less. I am not boasting in any way, but merely encouraging. It's not the equipment you use or the price of your camera. Remember that.

As a side note, yes - I'd love to work my way up to using an SLR someday, but I'm more than happy with the camera I currently have because it takes fine pictures. All I was stating was the fact that we weren't completely included in the assignment and that the assignment given to us "lower standard" people wasn't even comparable.

I wasn't trying to kick up dust, guys. Just trying to understand why we're excluded this week.

I have looked long and hard for someone that caters to the not quiet professional photographer and I am very happy to find a place to work with others that are at my level. There are a lot of place out there for the point and shoot cameras but not many for the non-professional SLR photographer.
