Skoggiel, I like the way the depth of field blurs the wings, giving them a feeling of being imaginary. I also like the way the lighting emphasizes the facial features and makes the figurine come to life. Stunning!

Smile assignment: ghetto lighting + reflector

I am so new to photography that I still feel like I have no clue about Fstops and all that but I'm learning, thanks to this site! I am also learning to have patience.... these have been harder than I anticipated but well worth it!

DPS assignment: ghetto lighting + reflector

the set up

For this shot, I had the jewelry set up on the mirror, there was minimal daylight coming from the rt and overhead fixture. The main lighting was the two flashlights show in the set up picture. The large flashlight was aimed into the center of the jewelry, the small LED light was cast to the left of the pieces. The light refracted off the mirror, casting a shadow onto the white poster board which was in turn captured in the mirror reflection giving the floating feel to this piece. This was challenging but FUN!!!

Nikon D70
35mm
5/24/09
ISO 200
Shutter 1/20sec
Aperture F/10

Default Assignment: "Ghetto Lighting + Reflector"

Just used the Kitchen light with the glass around it reflecting. The funny part is that he is not a smoker, just borrowed it from a friend for the shot.

Default Assignment: Ghetto Lighting + Reflector

Used my desk lamp reflected on a white card. Were trying not to shine the light too directly on the cristal to reduce the highlights being blown out too much.
