Default Re: Ghetto Lighting with Reflector

I really love how creative the entries are, with things that just seem to be close by. How inspiring.

Assignment: Ghetto Lighting + Reflector

In the Shadow of the Golden Stork

Day 47 of 365 - Shadow of the Golden Stork

I wanted to create a harsh shadow for the stork to look at. I created this with an overhead desk lamp pointed from behind and above the stork to get the harsh shadow. I then used a silver home made reflector (aluminium foil on a poster board) on camera left to throw some light on to the face and underside of the stork.

Camera: Canon 40D
Lens: Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8
Shutter : 0.3 secs
Aperture: f/5.0

The only stupid question is the one that is never asked, except maybe “Don’t you think it is about time you audited my return?”

Lighting was from a small mag-light. The lights were completely off, and I just shot the light at the reflectors. I used an aluminum foil covered piece of chipboard to the right and a white piece of cardstock to the left.

Default Assignment: "Ghetto Lighting + Reflector

I am all new to photography, receiving my photography course books on Monday! Any criticism or advice are welcomed! Used a torch on the left and a white paper sheet on the right. We used the little bottle on our wedding day as a thank you note for guest.

Default Assignment: Ghetto Lighting + Reflector

I found this camera in a muddy old garage last week and thought it would be a good subject for this assignment. I cleaned it up and shot it. A chrome work lamp with an old orange-yellow bulb was the light source. A foil covered cardboard square was the reflector. It was shot on a strip of old newspaper end-roll. I was going for a vintage look, but it ended up too orange.

Canon G10

Iso 200
shutter 0.8
Aperture 8.0
Focal length 13.8mm

I used a flashlight as the only light source and two pieces of white paper to help reflect the light onto the prism. I couldnt shine the beam directly on the prism as it went too crazy. I used a yellow lipton ice tea box on the far left to reflect back a bit of color onto the scene , thus the yellowish glow.

29/365 - Ghetto Lighting + Reflector

This butter dish is from my grandmother's glassware collection which she received as a wedding gift in 1936. I shot this using some incandescent lamp light and a flashlight that I aimed through one of my daughter's pink plastic translucent toddler plates. ) Tres ghetto! Light is reflected off of white posterboard which is the background.

Default Assignment: Ghetto Lighting + Reflector

For this shot, I used a key-ring laser pointer reflected off the bottom of a stainless-steel teaspoon (to spread the laser beam out) to illuminate a blue gel-cap pill. Shot on May 25, 2009. No post production, other than to convert to jpg and resize the image.
