Default Weathered Wood

Assignment: Weathered

Hello,

Here's my entry: a close-up of a stump...

I originally shot it in colour, but converted it to Black and White in Photoshop using the Channel Mixer (Image > Adjustments).

Default Latest assignment: WEATHERED

I live in a beautiful old City in England called Chichester; there are quite a few buildings that I could've shot 'worn/weathered steps'

Both pics taken on my compact Sony T10 ... no other settings, natural light etc!

Winter Initiation Ceremony

It may just look like I simply asked my mum to soak me with a hosepipe, but no. What you see happening here is an ancient tradition - practised in this area for hundreds of years. It is commonly known as a Winter Initiation Ceremony and takes place at the end of summer before the bad weather commences. It is common to soak or make cold the person whom you are initiating. In this way you are 'weathering them' - preparing them, mind and body for the hard months ahead.

Ok, ok. Some of the above may not be entirely 100% true but then if I can take silly photos then surely I'm allowed to make up stories too?!

And yes the shock is genuine - my mum suddenly pumped up the pressure from the hosepipe and as you can see, she is rather enjoying it.
