Brilliant photo - erm, does the light really shine from where it appears to?

Edited comment - I tried to reply by quote button but can't seem to get the inset quote with arrow to link back to original picture and quick reply didn't let me do it either. I don't seem to be able to remove the right bit of the original when I use quote. How hard is this??

Default Giraffes at sunset (well almost)

Giraffes at Sunset

This one is a bit of a cheat to be honest. Both photos were taken by me, but as the sunset had no animals to silhouette against it, I added some giraffes taken earlier in the day. Cut and pasted them into the sunset, coloured them black and viola !

Hi everybody!

I've been a subscriber of DPS' newsletter for a while now but only now i decided to participate in the forums.

I like the silhouetes subject and it is sure becoming a passion for me.

Here's what I have to brag with on this matter.

Hope that my watermark is not subject of breaking the forums rules (I didn't find any reference to this in the rules, but maybe I didn't read them carefully, no offence meant).

shine on,

pffmihai

No, and yours is fairly subtle (I actually had to look for it in the first two pictures). The main limitation is that marking your images does deface them and alter their impact. If you are worried about people stealing your images, a subtle approach won't be enough to stop them because it can easily be cloned out. On the other hand, if you go for a large watermark that obscures a lot of detail it is going to get in the way and inhibit people from commenting on (or being able to see) the details of your shots.

Thank you Wulf for your reply.

I understand the issues raised by watermarking the photos.

I just didn't want to be misunderstood in the way that i might be after self-promotion for my personal blog.

best wishes to you and everyone on DPS forums.
