This is one of my favorite city pictures that I have ever taken. Too bad it was taken in 2007. I wish that I would have been able to submit this one for the assignment, but I might be able to find something interesting to take a picture of before midnight on the 15th. Wish me luck.

Assignment: In the City
I was so busy taking pictures I wasn't sure I could find time for this assignment! But today was a lovely day for photography in the city. I got so many fine pictures I had trouble settling on one. I finally decided I loved the tricky way my Lensbaby lens made our riverbank castle (Bessborough Hotel) look like a model diorama. ![]() Taken today, Monday April 13th, 2009 Lens: Lensbaby 3G (now control freak) All settings manual, including manual aperture ring insert and manual focus. I truly don't know the f-stop of this aperture as I hand cut it from a blank into a 5point star with a craft knife. It's probably around f/8 or so, given the DOF it offers. Any bokeh highlights will come out star shaped. Camera: Pentax K200D Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/180) Aperture: f/0.0 Focal Length: 50 mm ISO Speed: 100 Exposure Bias: 0 EV Flash: Off

Assignment: In the City
![]() Camera: Nikon D80 Exposure: 0.067 sec (1/15) Aperture: f/4.5 Focal Length: 40 mm ISO Speed: 800 Date and Time (Original): 2009:04:09 19:24:28-07:00 I was in New York last week, so I got a chance to take all sorts of photos in the city. I actually had a different photo picked out originally, then I started to look at this one. I didn't notice a person was back in there when I took the photo; the architecture and shapes were my original intention, so he could be either a distraction or a subject. By breaking the photo into three sections I was able to highlight him as a subject but keep a vast majority of the original photo as well. Last edited by erkki; 04-14-2009 at 04:04 PM.
