This is my dad with the Christmas present I got him last year. I asked him to pose with it on my way home from work tonight.

Assignment- Headshot

Canon 40d
1/60sec. f/4.5
ISO 400
47mm
Tamron 18-200
Flash fired

Default Too late but posting anyway

This is a headshot I did of myself for this assignment but missed the cut off. Doh!

headshot 1 copy

I had a candle in my hand, just under my chin.

Increased exposure, did a bit of levels and painted out the background (which was virtually black anyway). Then desaturated to make it b/w

You can see the original on my Flickr (I think just clicking on the picture will take you there - hopefully!)

2) It's often a good idea not to crop pictures at a joint -- elbows, knees, wrists, but to rather aim for the forearm, shin, etc. Though I never was told the exact reason, pictures that I've seen that do this often make me wonder if the person is an amputee.
