The colors in your first shot are so rich and gorgeous. However, IMHO there's something about the pose in that shot that doesn't seem quite right. It's either how much of the woman's face is covered by the leaf, or the direct look into the lens, or both. I'm not sure. However, the second shot is wonderful! I love black and white. I think it works particularly well for this photo. I really love the pose in the second shot. It is very artistic all the way around.

I don't think it really matters if you think your photo may be a contender or not. When I submit for these, the fact that I've put thought into taking a photo and been brave enough to submit it means I'm growing. And that's what it's all about at the end of the day.
