Talking Assignment: Texture

I took my dogs outside for their 'last potty call' of the night. We stepped on the back porch, and I saw something jumping! The dogs saw it too, so they kept this toad at bay while I ran in and grabbed the camera! Had to work fast here! I couldn't really see what I was shooting. It was 10:30 PM and just threw it into the auto mode and started shooting. I was surprised at how the shadows from the flash brought out all those 'wartee' little bumps.

Default Jimmy - how to post an assignment

Hi Jimmy --

You'll find instructions on posting and proper sizing of photos in the following 2 posts, which are permanently at the top of the Digital Photography Assignments thread:

How to Post Pictures in Assignment Threads Using Flickr

Picture Size **Please Read Before Posting**

You'll get used to the process after you've posted a time or two -- it helps if you open 2 windows, one to write your post here, and the other with your Flickr image to cut and paste your link to the photo and EXIF information.

Have fun!

Laurie

I had the PERFECT photo for this assignment...a month ago! Blast the timing! Here is the link, if anyone cares to confirm claim.

But, adhering to the rules, I went with this one, noticing the texture of this tree -- the rough of the bark, the prickly of the pine, the tickly of the long things that I don't know what, and the occasional fuzzy of a squirrel.

I figured that stone walls would be well represented this week, so I went for something else.

This started out as wood chips that form the "floor" for a playground. I boosted the Saturation a bit, and dialed back the Hue to give it the reddish look.

When I first looked at this, the first thing I thought of was something hard, like granite or brick, but then I thouht, something soft...

I took this on Catalina Is over this past weekend (Sept 27th).
