Default NOT for assignment

I saw a couple other photos that reminded me of this, so I thought I'd share:
slidell
This was taken in Slidell, Louisiana a few years ago. Slidell is right where the worst of Hurricane Katrina's damage hit. We were in a relief volunteer camp just after the flooding had gone down enough to get in, and this is what I woke up to the second morning.
I was awestruck, simply put.

unless I missed it somewhere it seems that almost all of us here on DPS awake to simply stunning environments, healthy breakfasts and COFFEE (give or take a few pills here and there). Not one pic of an overloaded, backed up highway, car honking, finger waving, irate comute to work!

Lots of interesting shots but the contest is now

CLOSED

Keep posting your morning shots though, watch for the top picks from the contest on the blog this weekend and hold on for the next assignment which I'm just about to begin posting up.

I've tried. It's hard to take a decent picture of traffic. There are no good lines and you either end up with a picture of one car or a Jackson Pollock jumble of shapes.

On the other hand maybe "traffic" would be a good Assignment topic. Not sure how I'm going to do filters. I don't own any except a UV filter and I'm not sure that one actually fits a lens I own...

I don't have an irate commute! I ride my motorbike in serenity through all the car bound irate commuters! No hands free to take pics! The coffee is a must tho...

Well, with one hand jammed on the horn push, and the other waving an angry fist out of the window, I haven't got a free hand to hold the camera with!

You can add them in post-processing as well (as per my example - those translucent purple and orange sheets are painted in).

I think in n.Va I could get some decent traffic photos. But by the time my son is on the school bus, I may not make rush hour...Now I am going to try...

Default Traffic pictures

I tried so hard to get pictures of my morning commute!! Nothing came out great with trying to drive at the same time! I really should have left early and just pulled over on the parkway and taken pix!! But..all in all...im happy with my husband in the shower pic!
