shucks. ten days too early... anywho, just wanted to share. hope this passes off for contre-jour
![]() 1/1000|6.3/f|85mm edit: this has got to pass off for contre-jour. the more i look into this picture, the more i get irritated because i "think" it is crooked; and needs a bit of a clockwise rotation. but come to think of it, it's actually straight - and i just get "fooled" because of the shadow hiding the details on the left portion of the statue's base. go figure.

I hope this is right for the assignment, this one was a challenge. When I tried to get something that fit, it just didn't work. But while taking pictures at a zoo over labor day weekend I got this one.
I have no idea what kind of bird this is so I'll just call him a tropical bird. Maybe someone here knows who he really is! He was wondering around on the ground, under the plants, in the shadows. He stepped out into a little clearing for just a second and stepped right into a ray of light. I was lucky to get the shot. All I have done for post processing is to clone out a bit of well lit plant life that was very distracting in the upper right corner, and a slight saturation to the colors. ![]() Thanks to my sis and A Team I now know the name of this bird is Victoria Crowned Pigeon! Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/320) Aperture: f/5 Focal Length: 168 mm ISO Speed: 800 Exposure Bias: 0/3 EV Flash: Flash did not fire Software: Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 Windows Exposure Program: Manual Date and Time (Original): 2008:08:31 10:26:47 Metering Mode: Pattern Lens: Sigma 70-300

I finally got it! Take of your object from the shaded area into the light and it don't have to be direct sunlight and don't use flash to create a Contre-jour but not too dark then your object becomes a sillhouette
Here is a picture of a Ghost Tree behind a fog in Pebble Beach, Calif ![]() Camera: Nikon D50 Date Taken: 9-05-08 Focal Length: 31mm Appeture: f8.0 Shutter: 1/500sec Flash: Did Not Fire ISO:400 Last edited by GwenieThePooh; 09-06-2008 at 05:39 PM. Reason: Changed picture |
