It is quite hard to choose just one. I chose this one because the love the lights of the traffic which have become a blur whilst the sun hasn't yet gone down fully.

It was taken from the London Eye with a point and shoot (no dSLR back then), and I tried all sort of weird ways of getting a still shot, finally with the night scene mode, a mini tripod and the creative use of my arms and the hand rails I managed to get a sharp shot or two

Default My friend...

Well, I'm still learning to photograph people... but my friend needed a new headshot and I really like how this turned out.

This was handheld, with him in an outdoor stairwell, and me looking down. I wasn't getting the results I wanted using the fill flash, so I didn't use one on this shot. The technical specs are as follows:

ISO 400
1/125
F4.5
70mm

Post production I used the auto-contrast feature in Photoshop, and did my eye trick with portraits which is basically to use the lasso tool to select the eyes, and then punch up the contrast and brightness to make them jump out at you a little bit. You have to be careful to not make them look unnatural, but I think the effect is very pleasant.

I think this photo takes the cake for this year. I'm not very good with portraiture, and I don't practice it much, but this one came out nicely with very little effort.

I like the angles of the book and the lack of interest in the camera from my girlfriend.

Default fun pic for me

Nothing special other than it was fun and my first chance to catch some action as it was unfolding... I thought this goat(?) was going to ram my kid at the zoo... so like a good dad, I started taking pictures. I just got a DSLR and don't have any super photographs yet, but this one always makes me smile.
It was handhead w/ sony Alpha, minolta 75-300 in Auto(that is probably a sin to most people here.)

By the way my son did not get rammed.

It is a good question and my answer, at the moment, is that I am not sure. I've decided to work through each month of 2006 and pick my favourite picture from each one; that will narrow it down to twelve choices to pick my favourite picture of the year.

From January, it was this:

Bustrengo

Not the greatest photo ever (I wish I had managed to get it a bit more in focus) but it was a delicious dessert
