Default Assignment: Ten Minutes From Home

10 minutes walk gets me to the Macclesfield Canal, where I met these chaps. Loved the green and blue reflections but have been having trouble deciding on best crop. One of the frustrating things about this is that my normal editing package, PSP 7, deletes the exif data making the entry ineligible. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to stop this?

Default Assignment: 10 Minutes From Home

Went for a walk on the closest segment of the "Great North Walk", just behind my home. The Banksias never fail to draw me closer - I see so many species of them on my meanders through the bush. Looking at them close up shows how complex the spike is, with hundreds of flowers and what I call "hooks", which is what you see here.

Phalanx of hooks

Camera: Olympus E-510
Exposure: 1/100
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: 0/10 EV
Flash: Flash fired (FL-36 with diffuser)
Exposure Program: Aperture Priority

Default Assignment: Ten minutes from home

I went for a walk where I frequently used to go with my dog. She's now 17 y/o and doesn't enjoy the pain of walking when she can stay home and sleep stretched on the floor. I thought I'd be sad going to this old college where we spent so much time so I haven't been there by myself until I went for this assignment.

A lot has changed in the last few years so I found a lot of photo opportunities within a few feet of the ten minute time. When the alarm of my PDA went off it was difficult to decide where to aim my camera. An hour later, I felt very good about the walk. The assignment turned my fears of it being a sad place without my dog to a place where my eyes were open to so much. Thanks.

I call this shot "Ghosts in the Windows". Can you see them?

Camera: SONY
Model: DSC-H9
ISO: 100
Exposure: 1/640 sec
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 20.8mm
Flash Used: No

I had to straighten the image a bit and added just a touch of saturation with Aperture.

Between the drive and the hike I didn't make it up to the falls again but this was a cool looking scene.

[QUOTE=rolleh;234782]This view is ten minutes from the house which I called home for two winters. I visited this little town of Mayrhofen again last week and it still feels like home.

awesome shot!
