I kind of struggled with this week's assignment. I couldn't come up with any ideas!!! Then while decorating for Mardi Gras I noticed purple feathers, purple coins, purple beads...
Oh and I had a purple shirt (used as the table cloth in the photo) and some lavender tea light candles. The bowl is a clear crystal and it did all kinds of distorting cool things to the feathers and candles! At the same time I have been trying to understand shutter speeds and the different effects you can get with different speeds. So I tried for a candle light shot with all of the purple. I did tint some of the highlights at the top of the bowl by using a tint in the photo. The orange flame was casting an orange reflection on the very top of the bowl where the highlights were touching the top tip of the bowl. I also tinted the flame (only the flame) as the orange it was casting clashed with the purple maroon color. Everything in the photo is purple so NO tint filters were used. I turned out all the lights in the house and only used 3 small tea light candles. It might be too dark but I liked how it turned out ![]() ![]() Taken on January 22, 2012 Camera Canon EOS REBEL T3i Exposure 20 Aperture f/13.0 Focal Length 60 mm ISO Speed 100 Lens EF-S60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Obviously the flash did not fire HA HA

Assignment: Monochrome Color; taken 21 Jan 2012
This is my mom's antique green glass bowl, photographed on a mirror, with a green placemat to provide the total green reflection. I had been playing with this idea for the Green assignment, but decided it would do better for the monochrome assignment, so I reworked it a bit and here it is! ![]() Exif data Camera Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT Exposure 0.017 sec (1/60) Aperture f/5.6 Focal Length 55 mm ISO Speed 400 Exposure Bias 0 EV Flash Auto, Fired, Red-eye reduction |

While packing my lunch for work tomorrow I couldn't help but take some shots of these beautiful apples... I had a huge crate from Costco. Later, while browsing DPS I saw the assignment theme and decided to post!

Here is a photo that is very dear to me.....As you can see the American flag is surrounding as US battleship, the USS Missouri. I've visited the memorial several times this year and it never fails to move me, both as a citizen of the US and as a United States Sailor actively serving in the Navy. I hope you enjoy this photo! Thanks everyone!
