Warm Colors

Cathedra by IABoomerFlickr, on Flickr

Taken on October 26, 2011 at 8.15pm CDT (edit)

Camera Nikon D5000
Exposure 0.05 sec (1/20)
Aperture f/2.2
Focal Length 35 mm
ISO Speed 1600
Exposure Bias +2/3 EV
Flash No Flash

I know I was breaking rules here, but I didn't want to push the ISO higher and lose detail, so breath-holding and soft shutter-pressing were the orders of the evening.

This is the cathedra, or the central seat that the Bishop sits in at the cathedral of Saint Ambrose in downtown Des Moines. I centered the shot to emphasize the symmetry of the space, as well as the central location of this seat within the space of the church.

I think the red and gold pull your attention to the center, which I'm sure isn't an accident.

Default Assignment: Warm Colors Oct 19 - Nov 2

here is my warm colors,

I was trying to create a warm ambiance by using warm colors, and I was experimenting with high ISO (3200). I love to see the natural flare (looks like a tiny UFO to me here, or jelly fish?! :P), and the glowing light behind his head.

Default Assignment: Warm Colours

I don't have a lot of warm colours around here yet, so this was as best as I could find. I'm sure the warm colours will start showing up in a week or so!

Default Reducing glare

Try a polarising filter to reduce glare. Similar problems are seen with water. A circular polarising filter allows you to turn the filter to get the optimum result.

See this DPS article on Polarising Filters.
