Default Monochrome

This weeks assignment will be "Monochrome"
here are some useful tutorials

* http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tut...lack-white.htm
* http://www.oaktree-imaging.com/knowledge/digital_bw
* http://forrestcroce.com/Articles/Dig...kAndWhite.html

Exif data should still be intact if you wish to participate in the mini contest.... also the image in question should be taken with in the 27th feb - 12th March 2008. Your post must include "Assignment: Monochrome" to show your permission to count it for the contest.

Monochrome: n.

1. A picture, especially a painting, done in different shades of a single color.
2. The art or technique of executing such a picture.
3. The state of being in a single color.
4. A black-and-white image, as in photography or on television.

And a scary example! Me!

I love monochrome on architecture. This is one of my favs. I think I tend to use a cooler tone of greys in my conversions.

If you want it to be for the contest, then yes, it needs to have been taken between the dates specified. If you don't want it to be included in the contest but still want to add it to the assignment, it doesn't need to be from the specified time frame.

Default Assignment: Monochrome

This is my first submission for the assignments - if I didn't do something right please let me know. Also want to thank Sime for posting the links. I don't think I would have played with the channel mixer settings so aggressively otherwise.

blkwhthighkeyeyes

I cropped the picture down to the eyes, increased highlights, decreased shadows. Used channel mixer to change to black and white - increased the blue intensity to almost max. (PSE doesn't display in % - I don't think)

Exif data:
Camera FinePix S700
Shutter Speed: 1/290
Aperture: f5.7
ISO: 64
Focal Length:15.4mm
no flash
