Default Assignment: "Cars" Aug. 25 - Sept. 8

I'm running a little late today, woke up to a big basement water leak, so I'm just putting up the basics for this week's assignment, "Cars". We've all seen those beautiful pics in advertisements and some of us regularly pick up magazines with stunning images of cars in all their glory, so let's see what you can do.

Some things to check out:
Car Photography Guide
Car Photography Tutorials

Hope to get my pic up later today!

As always, rules:

Just a note to new posters: DO NOT start a new thread for your post. Please just hit the reply button at the bottom of any current post and put your image there.

1. Your original image you submit should be taken between the 25th of August and the 8th of September. Each week as an assignment closes on the Wednesday, it will be AUTOMATICALLY deemed *CLOSED* after 8am GMT (3AM EST) and any posts after that time will not be eligible for the assignment competition. Don't wait until the last minute to post!

2. Your post must include "Cars" (to show your permission to count it for the contest) and the date the picture was taken (to show that it is a valid entry).

3. EXIF data should be intact. It helps if you can include the main points (including camera, lens, date taken, ISO, shutter speed and aperture) in the text of your message.

4. Only one entry per member (if you can't restrain yourself until the end of the first week you can post two or three separate pictures but your entry should be in a separate post and the only marked with the text above). It must be an original image taken by you.

5. Remember the cross-site image size limit (740px on the longest side).

6. If the image does not exist in post at the end of the contest, it is disqualified. If you modify anything on flickr and re-save the image then the link is broken and the message needs edited to link the picture again before it will be included in the contest.

For everyone, please do not repeat other people's photos by quoting them until the contest is over. If you want to comment on or discuss an entry you can use a link to it (or just delete the picture from the quoted text).

7. If you are looking for the winners of the mini-contest, please check the front page of the DPS blog Saturday late afternoon (EST) and here.

Next week: "Learning". September is the start of back to school for many parts of the world, so let's consider what learning means to us.

Just a question because I seem to be missing something... Why is the "weekly" assignment marked as starting on "Aug. 25" when was really posted today (Sep. 1)? It gives the impression that we have 2 weeks to work on the assignment but in reality we have only one and thus "weekly"...

Just curiosity... Not the end of the world...

It has always been that way. If you look back at last weeks assignment, it mentioned that this weeks assignment would be "Cars". So you could start taking the shots then but you would have to wait to post until now. All assignments have a 2 week period for getting the shot.

I would like to know why is it that when I edit my photos in Picnik the Exif data does show when trying to get it from Flickr and how can I get it?

Default Not for assignment (pic a little too old)

Sometimes the beauty is not the "car" itself, but the journey that is experienced with the "car."

Taken August 28th at the 2010 Wah Chang Northwest Art and Air Show. They were also sponsering a car show and I had fun taking close ups of all the details on the shiny classics. This is my first forum post, so I am hoping I am doing this right.

I was trying to upload the file but it wont let me. I checked the size, the naming convention, the width, the ext but it just keep saying this is not a valid image file. Why?

How do I embed a picture into the message instead of attaching it as a file?
