I traveled to Decatur, Tx to visit an old friend. I just happen to be there when they were holding a small old car display in the middle of town. A lot to chose from and not sure if this is what this assignment is about burt I loved trying and taking these pics. More are on my Flicker page.

I had A LOT of fun with this assignment, both during the shooting and especially during the post-processing! I know I probably took it well beyond the scope of traditional Film Noir examples, but, hey, this is what came from my inspiration. This is a composite image - the original was shot against a solid black background and the brick, blood, smoking gun effect and text were all added after-the-fact in PSE6. Enjoy!

For lack of imagination I took this tonight as storms rolled in from the window of our employee lounge with my LG Neon cell phone. I think it looks dark and mysterious, but no where as good as many of the photos submitted already!

![]() I'm new to photography and hadn't tried anything like this yet, but it was a lot of fun. Came up with this shot by chance while trying to figure out how to light a completely different shot I was gonna use. I think I've found a style I want to explore. Thanks DPS. I decided to go for Film Noir self portraits. I tend to stay away from the front of the camera (hence the pained look) but ran out of time to find a model.

![]() Taken on: May 3, 2010 Camera: Olympus E-500 Exposure: 1 Aperture: f/5.0 Focal Length: 30 mm ISO Speed: 250 Exposure Bias: -0.7 EV Coming up with ideas was the toughest part of this assignment but I'm glad it was tough. It forced me to really think and set up the shot. Thanks DPS for making me exercise my brain. Oh... about my shot. I'm still starting out so my equipment is quite primitive. I used an ordinary flood light to light the wall behind me and created the shadow using an ordinary Maglite flashlight. I used a fast ISO which produced a lot of noise but it seems to fit into the finished product.Post editing in PS, Crop, vignette, and a slight yellow tint. |
