Delicate Features

Iris IMG_2106d

The detail of an iris. Black and White proved to be an interesting, challenging assignment for me. I almost always shoot for color. For show only, not for contest.

Default Assignment: "B&W Nature"

I took this picture while on Vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii, of course I live on Oahu, so its not a long trip. Anyway this was taken at the top of Mauna Kea, it is the volcano where all the telescopes are placed, and as you can see there is a reason for it. In the color image the ground was being lit by some red lights from the building behind me, so I used the selective black and white mixer from Lightroom to control what colors went to black and what went to white. I really liked how the weeds look when they are white.

So Im hosting this from my website just to see if I can do it. But you can get the exif here.
