notes
this is an image of the arches under the suirokaku aqueduct in kyoto, japan near nanzenji temple. I hadn't been there in nearly eight years, but when this assignment was announced, i thought this might make a good subject, so i waited for a day with soft light (which fortunately came on a saturday) and made this image.
amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:d

Default Assignment: Centered Composition

I'm discovering the joy in Chase Jarvis' philosophy of "The best camera is the one you have with you." I'd like to use this shot (taken with my Blackberry) for the assignment. However, it is seriously lacking in adequate EXIF data.

What do you think, Mods? Acceptable?

Default Assignment: Centered Composition

Here is my bright idea for the assignment:
A Bright Idea

Camera: Pentax K100D
Exposure: 1
Aperture: f/16.0
Focal Length: 240 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Date and Time (Original): 2010:01:28 14:25:16-05:00

This was a very difficult shot for me to get, it took me quite a few attempts to get the right flags in place to avoid getting reflections in the glass. I finally had to make a square flag out of black foamcore and hold it in place during the shot. One flash behind the black foam behind the bulb too get the edge of the bulb lit. I took quite a few shots to get here, and settled on a longer exposure to capture more of the light from the bulb. Sorry for the long explanation but the explanation wasn't nearly as long as the time I spent getting the shot
