The first time I walked by this rock it did not capture my attention, just a flat rock in a shallow pool. But the second time the water was so still and the reflection of the clouds so perfect that it made the rock appear to be floating above the surface; a kind of visual cunundrum. I liked the angels created by the distant tree lines but including them and surrounding the rock with clouds left me little choice but to put it dead center.

Do you keep your centred images coming in for the assignment (and take some time to talk about them as well) and don't forget to double check that your entry (if you made one) has all the correct information. See the first post of this thread for the details and also notice of what the next assignment (due later today) will be.

This is a contest? I thought it was just assignments to help people think a little more and expand. If it's a contest, that's a little intimidating. Kind of glad I didn't post mine.

Photos taken from when the next assignment is announced (a week before the new thread is started) up until 8am GMT the week after it opens can be counted for the contest IF they fit all the criteria given in the first post. The "grand prize" is whatever kudos you get for having your image featured in the DPS weekly round up blog post.

The real prize though is whatever you learn from the experience. Even if you never "win", what you learn stays with you long after that blog post has been forgotten. Most of the old assignment threads are still open (except for when a later assignment repeated them) so feel free to dig back to find a challenge to inspire you.

No need to be intimidated. All of these "Assignments" start out as a "Contest". The first week of every assignment is when the mini-contest takes place. You can add to the thread any time after that if you wish.

Don't be afraid to add your shot within the first week as long as it was taken within the time-frame of the contest. It's not like people are going to be laughing at you. Personally, I find it quite interesting to see all different perspectives people have on 1 idea. Even if you don't think your photos are "Up to Snuff", I would add them. You'd be surprised at what the judges deem worthy of a winner. I think there was maybe 2 or 3 times I would have chosen the photo that actually won. It's really more about sharing your ideas on a subject & seeing other peoples ideas & growing as a photographer.

This is new to me ... you mean if you post in the second week of an assignment it's not eligible for the contest? And I stayed up so late to get my entry in before the deadline!
