Night time shot, the ring is a sign that a storm is about to hit. Pretty awesome stuff!

Assignment: Centered Composition

...it doesn't get any more Bullseye than this!!! With so many posts lately with water crowns, I wanted something that stood out from the crowd. I pulled out an archery target, one of my arrows, and some water, and voila!!!

I'm not sure why it says that. Something is wrong with my camera date and I just haven't changed it.... I can't do anything but tell you that it was taken then... I updated my flickr either that night or the day after I took those pictures and it was only a week ago.

Nice shot! However, halos around the Moon are quite common and a bit more so in the winter time. They are caused by high altitude flat (in fact hexagonal platelet) ice crystals that reflect moonlight and have absolutely nothing to do with the proximity nor are they predictors of storms. That's an old "wives tale," or sailors tale, etc. Brighter halos are often seen for several nights during long periods of good weather.
