Well, look at that, I'm actually on time posting the thread this week! And it's time for another plea for images if you'd like these threads to keep going. I know we've had some very challenging pictures over the last few weeks, but I'm always impressed with what people can come up with. So, if you want to keep the game going, PM me with a link to the medium and large version of the picture (or even just medium if that's all you have). :)
Now, on to the fun part. This week's picture is from Teewinot.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/7845858@N05/2086435349/" title="Fish Shadow by ~Teewinot~, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2232/2086435349_ab7d70bf1f.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Fish Shadow" /></a>
Available larger (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2232/2086435349_ab7d70bf1f_b.jpg)
The rules are simple. Use the image given here, edit it, change it, fix it, do something creative or something simple, basically, just show us something that you would do with the image. Then come back and post your results along with a description of what you've done to get there. See? Easy as that. Now, let's see what you would do!

First I opened the image in "PhotoExplosion", then I cloned and flipped the fish and shadow. Then I "Rippled" the image and converted it to watercolor painting. A little bit of cropping, and there you are. Underwater abstract. I liked how the woodgrain resembled the ocean floor.:D

I like the shot as is. If I were going to play with it, I would probably merely crop it in to simplify the composition.

(By the way - can someone please tell me why these shots come in as thumbnails??)

(By the way - can someone please tell me why these shots come in as thumbnails??)
When you post them as forum attachments (using the attachment ability in your post) they come up as thumbnails. If you want to post a larger size (Flickr Medium size), Flickr is great and they offer free accounts that let you view your 200 most recent photos.

Basically what i did:
1. Selected The Colourful Fish
2. Copied, Transformed Fish
3. Added 'Aquarium' Background
4. Lightened Fish Layer To Blend More
5. Saved As Jpg

Great minds and all of that Nicole,
Originally i didn't have a plan, then this just kind of turned out, must sleep instead of being on the computer all night though, but the problem with that is missing the wonderful posts everyone has to offer,

A guppy who feels like the big fish in the pond: so tempting to put in a shark shadow.
The little shadow suggested some sort of poster, to illustrate a human characteristic.
Keeping it simple:
-Crop to a square, setting things near the "thirds"
-Flip horizontally, because for this, it's better
-Select little shadow; copy, paste, enlarge, position, lighten
-Clone little shadow away using surrounding woodgrain
-Lighten everything, contrast a little.
-Add text

Ok, I actually came up with something for this one :)
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicolesphotos/2181327228/" title="fishwwyd33 (by -Nicole-)"><img src="http://static.flickr.com/2336/2181327228_771370a696.jpg" title="fishwwyd33 (by -Nicole-)" alt="fishwwyd33 (by -Nicole-)" width="500" height="375" /></a>
What I did:
1. Painted most of the background black (except for the fish obviously)
2. Cloned the fish using the clone stamp. If I hadn't gone for one click fish, I would have set my brush size as smaller to avoid having problems with placing fish and getting other fish in my cloning area.
3. Created a new layer for the gradient and set it to Hue. I actually tried all the different blending modes before I settled on this one.
4. Filled the new layer with a gradient. I used a rainbow gradient and did several on the layer with different levels of opacity to avoid having lines of the exact same color fish :p

* First thing I did was to find the picture of the otter
* Cropped closely arund the fish and then Deleted/ereased background. I got frusterated trying to trace around it with the selection tool
* Upped the saturation a bit
* copied and then pasted as a new layer twice and mirrored one image
*traced around a section in the ice and copied and then pasted as a new layer
* moved fish into the ice cube area
*moved pasted layer of ice to the top of my laeres selection and then moved it on top of the fish figures. Lowered the opacity till i thought it looked like the fish were entombed in ice
*created a balloon shape from a preset form
*typed in text and merged all layers

Here is my attempt.
http://Taallyn.zenfolio.com/img/v3/p631385648-3.jpg
For this I did the following in PSE 5:
1) Duplicated the background layer.
2) Played around with the Artistic Filters; finally settling on Glowing Edges. Then I adjusted the filter settings to taste.
3) Set the Layer Opacity to around 60%, I think.
4) Played around with the filter blend modes. I think I ended up using Pin Light, but I don't remember exactly.
5) Cropped, then flattened the layers.

okay... I don't know what all I did! lol... Its getting late... and things just seemed to happen!
Basically I seperated the different elements into their own layers in Paint Shop... removed the shadow (but somehow I see it has reappeared! argh... pretend you can't see that part! lol)... added some drops and texture. Erased the string above the fish and colourized him. Duplicated and moved him down and mirrored one. I added drop shadows in different colours; duplicated and mirrored them as well. Added a gradient to the background... and Voila... something very odd!

Changed it to a line drawing
Brought back the color and Highlights
Added some noise
Cloned out the shadow and added a new one.
Dropped the contrast and used curves.
