There's a really fun (and somewhat terrifying) technique of getting some really sweet abstract pictures... camera-tossing. I've long thought about it, but it was Photojojo's camera-tossing article (http://www.photojojo.com/content/inspiration/camera-tossing/) that finally got me to try it out. This technique is most comfortably employed with an older point-and-shoot, you can get some really wild results... check out the flickr group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/cameratoss/) and try it out for yourself!

My old P&S has a shutter delay, so I just hit the button and throw the camera in the air. On other cameras, you can set a timer so that it goes off while the camera's in the air.

And don't think for a minute that I'm liable for any damage you may do to your camera! Use one that you don't mind getting busted! I caught mine pretty consistently, but stopped for the evening when it crashed to the floor and the memory card popped out. :)

That's definatly an interesting effect!

However I think I will stick to just waving my camera around.

Saw this site on flickr a few weeks ago. Considered it for 2 seconds before I looked at my Rebel and reconsidered.:)
I notice they do recommend not using an expensive camera.

I used an old Kodak point-and-shoot that otherwise gets no use anymore... I wouldn't dare tossing one of my Nikons. ::shudder::

It is a lot of fun, though, and quite addictive. :) I can't wait to head downtown at dusk and give it a go. I have yet to venture outside with it.

My point and shoot fuji 6800zoom has a strap, so I can feel safe in throwing it up. (I'm looking into getting a fuji S5600 soon). Here's one of my results.

cool! If you start doing much of this, you'll find it's quite addicting. :D

here's one of my recent shots, taken while we were driving at night... don't worry, I wasn't at the wheel!
check out the arrows on the left. :)

Hey I love that one googlit, was the camera pointing inside or outside the car? And what are the arrows?

the camera was pointing outside the car. The arrows are either a turn-arrow or one of those big arrows they put up to tell you to merge into the other lane... I think this is the latter, but I'm not positive.

I have a set of shots (http://www.flickr.com/photos/googlit/sets/72157594519379012/) up at flickr (I add to it as I take more).

Has anybody else tried camera-tossing yet?
