I use two computers. My desk top is an HP P4 running at 3+ gh using 1gig of ram and XP Multimedia. The second is a Toshiba A105 Laptop with a 17" screen and Intel single core WIN XP Pro operating at 1.6 gh. Personally, I prefer the laptop.
Not a mac fan even though my first computer was the Machintosh 128K.
I have a home made dual boot box.
Abit AN8 Mobo
AMD Opteron 2ghz dual core
2Gb PC3200 Ram
GeForce 7600GT Video card.
1Tb of HD, 2 500gig

12" PowerBook G4
... saving pennies for a 24" iMac.
I'm a tech guy, so I fix PCs at work, I fix PCs for my friends ... I don't need my own PC that I have to fix as well.

For Photos: 15" PowerBook G4 1.67GHz with a mere 512 of RAM (which seems out dated compared to what most people using Macs have here ;)).
For Gaming: I've also got a frankenstein (read: the only original part in there is the sound card) PC that I don't do photos on because my monitor is terrible.

I have 3 machines I use for photography editing work.
The work laptop is the worst of the 3 but does the least amount of work at:
1.066 GHz and 500 MB RAM, think its a 15" screen but the max resolution is really low.
My preferred machines are my home machine or my personal laptop.
Home machine is a build-it-yourselfer running a 3.4 GHz Intel chip with 2 GB ram, Radeon 9700 Pro video card. Personal laptop is an Alienware 3.2 GHz beast with 1 GB RAM and a Radeon 9700/9600 Pro mobile graphics adapter. Both of these machines are nice with photoshop (once it finally loads) since I can fit a lot of palette on the screen and still have ample room for the image I'm correcting.
I'd love to upgrade to a Dell 30" monitor but the wallet can't take that big of a hit right now.

I built my own system from parts I bought at Newegg.
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (2.20GHz)
2GB RAM
Maxtor 300GB SATA Harddisk
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT Overclocked
BenQ DW1655 DVD + Lightscribe burner
Memorex DVD burner
Logitech MX Laser Mouse
A 22-in-1 memory card reader takes the place of the old 3.5 inch floppy.
and
Dual monitor setup with a 22 inch Westinghouse widescreen LCD next to a 19 inch standard Samsung LCD on a dual mount stand.
I speced the same system at the time on Dell and it was in the $3k range. i built mine for about $1400.

1.33 GHz 12" PowerBook G4
1.25 GB RAM
and I use a Wacom tablet for PS work.
though I'm getting a MacBook Pro as soon as I've got the cash.

I have a 12" iBook G4 with 1Gb Ram and a Mac Mini G4 with 1Gb Ram.
The mac mini was my first mac and I love it! Next year I'm contemplating buying either a MacPro or a largish iMac... It's probably going to be the iMac in all honesty.

I have two machines at the moment.
A black macbook (awaiting memory upgrade) and a mac mini (2GB memory) running through a 24" Dell screen.
I'd love a 24" iMac to pair with the Dell for some dual screen action, but I just don't need it :)

Ha, my system is outdated and I am sorely in need of some upgrades. Right now running a home built PC w/ the following
AMD 2800+ (just over 2 ghz)
1 gb ram
80 gb HDD
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Wish my motherboard had a PCI Express, but sadly it doesnt, so I'm pretty much either looking at building a new system, or just getting a laptop since college is coming up next year

My main photo machine -- really, my main ANYTHING machine -- is my MacBook Pro. 2Ghz, 2 Gigs RAM, and I have an external 60 gigabyte Firewire drive dedicated to my photography stuff. I use Aperture.
I also have a PC -- a homebuilt AMD 2.8Ghz machine with 2 gigs of RAM and 300 gigs of disk -- which is mostly for work-dev and game stuff. In a pinch, I use PaintShop Pro X on the PC, though.

I have a Dual 1Ghz G4 Powermac with 1.25GB RAM running Mac OS 10.4.8. It's barely five years old but getting pokey when trying to deal with big images. I might upgrade to a Mac Pro next year when Photoshop CS3 comes out as a Universal Binary.
I also have a 400Mhz G3 Powerbook, but I don't use that for much editing. I'd love to replace that with a Macbook someday... someday... ;)

Currently running WinXP on a P4 3.2ghz in a small Shuttle box with the built in readers and such. 1.5gb RAM and put in a couple 160gb Seagate SATAII drives as a Raid 1 (mirroring) when my HD crashed around a month ago.
I take the whopping 700Mhz WinXP laptop along for downloading and previewing (but definately not editing) pix while on a trip (like over Christmas break).

well i do most of my editing on my laptop:
12.1" screen
1.73ghz centrino
1GB RAM
60GB HDD
128MB GPU
Not the fastest but its small, light and can handle the programmes that i need.
I game alot so for that i use;
P4 2.7 ghz
2GB RAM
80gb HDd
ATI radion x800xt pro GPU
Might build a new machine in the near future since i had my main desktop for a while now

I use mostly my new 15" MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo (so glad I waited). At home I use my 17" iMac. I still have my old PC that I use to work with all the time. But I've not used it in several months now. I tried to turn it on the other day to get some data off it. The light on the front would glow, but the CPU wouldn't start up. I guess it's mad at me....?

Nothing exciting here... two Dell's - a laptop and a desktop. Both are getting older, but I've been spending most of my money on camera equipment lately.... so I guess the new PC will have to wait a little longer.

Aside from my servers I use for the hosting biz, I use my G5 with 23' screen for the photography along with the epson 4990 scanner and R1800 photo printer. Also use a Dell 9300 with 17' screen which I will soon be changing back to a MacBookPro or maybe the MacBook, and I use a Dell 9100 desktop with 23" screen.
Photography equipment is to much to type but runs between Nikon's Digital D2H with many lenses and Leica not digital.
Thanks

I have a MacBook Core 2 Duo (the black one) with Aperture which is my upgrade from the iBook G4 12". Like someone else said I am always helping people fix their Dells and HPs.
I also built a PC with AMD 64 3000+ with 1.5 gig ram Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier 4.0, and all the other bells and whistle. I should mention no problems with the home built rig and I think I built this one 3 years ago. Still smoking fast.
I only wish Apple had partnered with AMD. So much better than Intel... Opps I'm getting carried away here.
Oh, I also have an Atari 1200XL:eek: . My first computer.

My main computer which I use for school and leisure and minor image editing (mainly during travel) I use a powerbook g4 1.5 gigs. It's a good computer that I take with me. My main photo computer is my iMac G5 20" with a gig. This is where I store and edit most of my photos. I love both of these machines.

There is a Dell Dimension 8300 in my house but I hardly use it and more, it's more for my parents and siblings. I use a Fujitsu T4020 Tablet PC which everyone in my school was made to buy.
Specifications:
Windows XP
1.7 GHz Intel Pentium M Processor
1.5 MB RAM
80GB Hard disk
Integrated graphics (it sucks)
DVD-ROM drive
Although I bought it barely a year ago, I think Fujitsu discontinued sales of it as I can't find its product page on the Fujitsu home page anymore.
Hopefully in a couple of years' time I can afford a Macbook :)
