Redrabbit posted a shot on the critique section http://digital-photography-school.com/forum/showthread.php?t=777 wondering if someone could guess what was in the picture. I thought it might make a fun game. Post a macro, close-up or cropped picture and let us guess what it is.

Does your second picture have anything to do with hockey? Almost looks like a close-up of a puck.
I'm guessing, drt205, it's a rolled scarf.
Demo 24, I think both pictures are parts of tennis shoes.

I don't know exactly what that is, but it looks like an old couch I use to own. You know the one that everybody owned at one time. Old, beat-up, hole(s) in it, but you just can't give it up because it's sooooo comfortable!:D Is that stuffing material coming out of a hole?

Close enough! It's my racing canoe paddle made out of carbon fiber. I wanted to get more carbon fiber into the picture, but it made the picture way to dark.
The first picture is completely unrelated from the second picture. However it was in the house.
As for DRT205's submission, looks like a animal burrow of some kind?

Bingo! It's a bowl from Spain. I can post a whole picture of it if wanted, its actually a neat looking bowl.
I made it b&w as in color it looked a little fuzzy, that part at the bottom thats not quite in focus due to the curvature really stood out when colored.

That's right googlit. It's a greenhouse on my parents farm. The photo isn't that great, just a snap shot taken quickly. It's from the right hand bay of the greenhouse below, we have beef cattle, outdoor flowers for export and indoor ones in the greenhouse, and something like 8 arces of avocado's. Ford Falcon? Can I PLEASE see a picture of the entire car? AU, is that Austria? Where do you live? We don't have Ford Falcons in the USA. That I know of anyways.
Ford Falcon is an Australian made car (I live in New Zealand which is not a part of Australia - contrary to popular belief) However the Australian made Ford Falcon and Holden Commadore are the 2 most popular large cars in both countries. Holden is part of GM. The Ford Falcon comes in a 4L I-6 engine (that's the one I own), 4L V6 Turbo, 5.0L V8 and a 5.6L V8 Turbo.
The AU is a model number. The AU was made form 1998-2002 (mine is a 2000 model), after the AU was the BA 2003-2006 and the BF late 2006+
Information on the history of the Falcon can be found here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Falcon).
Here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:FordFalconAUII01.jpg) is the same model as the one pictured above (different car) year 2000-2001
Here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:FordFalconAUIII01.jpg) is a 2001-2002 model

That is nice. Amazing how much detail you got from the original photo when you cropped it. Did you shoot that through the open car window or did you actually get out?

I was waiting on the side of the road for another car to catch up with me and actually saw a dear right off the road and grabbed my camera to take the picture of her. Seeing how if I got out of the car she would run, I rolled the window down and snapped a couple of pictures of her and then noticed the flower so I snapped a couple of pictures just to see how well it might do. I was very excited when the pictures came out so well. I was as supreised as you when the detail came out so well when I cropped it.

Dragonfly, I'm so happy you posted that. My E-500 should be in my hands tomorrow (unless the company I ordered it from screwed up yet again - but that's another rant for another forum), and my best friend (who owns the E-300 I've been borrowing for the last month) called me tonight to let me know that a) he found it for $50 less (on clearance, since the E-510 just came out) and b) he just read a Consumer Reports article on DSLRs and Olympus rated the lowest on their lenses out of everyone.
Great. Way to rub salt in the wounds (again, long story); I think he's just jealous because I'm turning out to be the better photographer with his camera ;) But I'm always happy to see some great shots with the camera I'm still having an anxiety attack about getting ;)

Jiminy :D There were actually loads of them hanging amongst a rack of hanging leaves which you can see on the other shot. With there wings closed they were so well camouflaged that we didnt even know they were there. Only on closer inspection (curious why they had a bunch of large leaves hanging up) did one move and we realised (that we should run for our lives! its an ambush!!) Thailand is one of those places where you don't really get a choice, the insects tend to just invite themselves over. Although I never got a shot (too busy jumping around) I saw the biggest cockroach ever clinging to the curtains of my hostel room in Bangkok, which was easily the length of the palm of my hand with antenna thingies as long as my fingers. Truely disturbing :( Had to chase it into the bathroom where it met its demise after a long and hard fought battle!

One of the suggested guidelines for the game is to give the answer if no one has guessed it in 24 hours. You have passed 10 days, during which the game is dead.

I had to pull out one of my own to look, and the first one I pulled out of the jar was a 1945 wheat back ;)
But I looked on a few others, and sure enough, the little guy is there - nearly worn off on a few, difficult to see on all but the brightest of pennies, but he's there.

Sorry about time lapse, downtime sucks, unavoidably.
This is the original, so you'll have to use your imagination: it's a macro of the bottom of a plastic 16-ounce Coke bottle, filled with water, set in window during sunset. If you think about clouds and blue sky, sun on right side, you'll see it.
