1) This is the original RAW image that has been converted to TIFF then to JPEG. No other processing done to this image. It was taken at 5:30 PM with a moderate amount of fog. Here are the technical details of the photo:

Exposure: 0.25 sec (1/4)
Aperture: f/4.5
Focal Length: 72 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Used my car and myself as a tripod.

2) I only color corrected this photo...otherwise same detail as the first photo.

3) This photo was processed from the original RAW to B and W...otherwise the same processing as the original photo.

My questions are such:

1) Creatively what could have been done different to capture the original photo?

2) Which processed photo works best from the original?

I like the second, colour corrected towards blue. It might work well with some deeper contrast in the tree - you could overlay a blurred layer (using overlay mode), which will bump up the contrast in a way that fits the original image.

I prefer the black and white one, The second one is really good although in the lower left corner there is now a strong blue lighting in the woods

I really like the second one, the one with the blue sky. Not sure what could be done to capture the original photo though, sorry :)

OldSgtCookie,

Comprehension fails me, and as I have wondered what the other conversions in my program would do, I have to ask, is your original gone? The b/w is where the RAW was?

The first image is the original. I took the photo in the RAW format and filed it away in a seperate folder for my RAW images. I then did the color corrected and the B/W from a copy of the RAW image.

Unfortunately the blue in the corner is from the park about 300 yards down the road. The fog reflected the light and I did not notice it until I ran the shot through the color correction. You can barely see the light in the original shot. I might have been able to use the clone tool to blur it out..but I am not that good yet:( Thanks for "showing me the light" so to speak.

I like the 2nd one, thought the bw is still pretty good.

I also like the second one more than the bw, because the contrast is bigger.
