I was given a Kodak Z612 a couple of months ago, and had a mishap with it within the first week. It was covered by warranty, and have been waiting for the replacement in the mail. to make a long story short, instead of sending a new camera, we have been reimbursed, and now i need to go buy a camera. I have zero knowledge of cameras past auto mode, but am looking for a camera that gives me the flexibility to learn about manual options..which is why i was loving my Kodak Z612 before i broke it. But...now I have the opportunity to do a little shopping around, and I need some advice please....

In the same price range as the Kodak Z612 I have noticed the Sony DSC H7. Yes, I have read review after review, but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with either that could help me make a decision as to which is better for the money, or any other suggestions in my price range.

Am i right that the Sony seems to be better in just about every field...(more megapixels, longer zoom, better macros?, more wide-angle ability?). I think the only thing I can remember from teh reviews (none compared them side to side0, was that the Kodak had a faster shutter speed, and faster turn-on to photo taken speed, also the Sony needs a special memory disk, and I don't think i can use my sandisk I already bought?

Any help would be super duper appreciated.

thks!:D

Well, in the end I decided on the Sony, even though I will have to buy a new memory card and can't use my old one. I think I'll be picking it up tomorrow. :D

You will enjoy your H7, to see the kind of pictures it takes, visit my blog (http://www.inagouws.aminus3.com)- 90% of the shots is with the H7, the rest is my Nikon Coolpix.
