Wow, nobody even reminded me that I'm 2 days late with putting this thread up. Anyways, I'm pretty busy with some real life stuff at the moment, so I'll refer you back to WWYD 21 (http://digital-photography-school.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6815) if you're not familiar with the rules ;)
Here's this week's picture from Shazzt

Nicole, I was getting to the point where I thought of sending you a pm, but...;)
GOAL: Make it look abstract and textured.
What I did (in PSP XI):
-Crop
-Desaturated 91%
-Unsharp mask (radius 75, strength 30)
-Histogram midtones adjustment (-50)
-Colorized
-3 distortion effects applied: spiky halo, fish-eye distortion, and twirl

Well here is what I d<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/alockintime/1607276519/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2038/1607276519_1e8a313018.jpg" width="387" height="500" alt="1522244153_5ae4d0e7eb" /></a>id
Lets see if i can remember cause i did a lot of steps. Well first I used the displacment effect and set the limits to upper left (i think or it might have been right) I then mirrored the image and then went back into effects and created a circle with the repeat selection. I then used the pick tool and streched the image out until all i could see were the one image and then cropped it down. Next I played with the saturation but it wasnt bold enough for me so I used the virtual photographer plug in and set it to Fast process which gave it a deeper green. Added some borders to it and here ya go!

I duplicated and mirrored the flower, and then I used Lucas Arts Kimpt and Sculpture, and Nik Selective Brightness and Warmth, and then made a quick blurred frame around it which I duplicated several times using different blending modes.

Think "painting," and start with a crop for a more detailed look, and a flip for better lighting direction.
Add a negative layer, bringing emphasis onto light fluff.
Add a Lighten layer, 50%. Erase all but area under bloom, so detail shows.
Add vignette mask, Center out, Dark to Light.
Add Drop Shadow.

xxpinballxx, Thanks
A hundred of my photos have to do with dandelions or something like them. Maybe 90 of them are lit from the upper left, so it just fell into place.

A moment to regain my breath gave me the time to play with this photo... which I've been wanting to do since I was reminded about using textures in a different thread :)
http://static.flickr.com/2087/1648262932_0ce091449d.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicolesphotos/1648262932/)
What I did was (and potentially all in the wrong order):
Used the unsharp mask to sharpen up the flower
Lightened the picture using levels
Added a texture from TextureKing.com (http://www.textureking.com/) (it was a pink fabric texture)
Changed the hue of the pink layer to something a little more purpley blue (I'd played around with making it green, but I decided on this instead)
Set the blending mode to Vivid Light and the opacity to 50% on the fabric.
Edit: Also tilted the picture by 15 degrees CW, and cropped it :p Totally forgot about that step.
The end :D

These are all so cool - I never would have dreamed that little dandelion could have looked so good.

Here's my take. A bit of crossprocessing with a vignette and some light paint. The underexposed and overall look was chosen to drive the mood. Hope you guys like it.

First one just a caricture sketch adjusted a bit and flexed
http://xxpinballxx.zoints.com/image/72411-CaricatureSketch
Second stab was just a crazy background....dandelions always make me think of hippies....not sure why that is?

xxpinballxx,
Hippies and dandelions: happy most anywhere they are, sometimes blowin' in the wind, each one unique but similar.
These are unique looks, too.

my mother board fried over the weekend and i'm just now up and running.....so, forgive my hasty edit.....
i wanted dawn to be breaking.....
duplicated the background, gaussian blur to give it a glow later, set layer to screen......duplicated bg again, brought this layer to the top and set the blending mode to overlay to briing up the colors...merged layers .added a lighting effect from above with a soft yellow spot and set the ambient color to somewhere around orange.....and yup, a crop.....
thanks....

You guys have done everything with colors, so I decided to spread a little dandelion seed and multiply the little guy. This is a bit rough, but it was a fun idea.

hi,
It doesn't matter what kind of photograph (http://freephotopaper.com/ink_store.htm) you have; the ink eventually fades and you end up with a washed-out picture. Traditional film prints tend to fade quite a bit after 30 or 40 years, while most ink jet prints fade in a fraction of that time.
so care ful every one while printing.
cheers
