Hi All:

I have an 18-200AF lens mounted on a D-200 and the autofocus stopped working, and I can't seem to get it to function. I have looked at the setting on the lens M/A as well asn the C 7S settings on the camera and these are correct. I also dismounted and carefully moujnted the lens again - still no function of the autofocus. I can manually focus the lens but need the auto focus. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Make a warranty claim. At the very least, take it in and have it checked out.

You can try cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser, but I doubt it'll do anything.

Well, I did send the lens in for checking, because a white spot appeared on the front glass, but inside, which is not accessible. This is what was replaced:
Focusing Mechanism
Zooming Mechanism
Cam Ring
Zoom Tube
Encoder and a few other misc. parts.
They also did a general clean and check. No mention of the white spot (mold?).

I finally have the lens I dreamed of. It focuses fast and sharp.

The service was fast, and covered by the one year warranty. A wonderful end to my initially sad story.

the spot was prolly a speck of dust?? from the zoom creating a vacuum

but glad the lens is all fixed now for you .. WOOT!!
