How to achieve it

I’m new to digital photography and I would like to ask if anyone know how to achieve the look like this or anything about technique used in this photo:

By the looks of it this is a HDR image with tone mapping applied

Why I didn't think about HDR! Now when u said that its so obvious! I found this photo and was stunned by the atmosphere.

I recently started to using Photomatix and was playing with HDR for a couple of months, found it a bit hard to have a crisp focus after all manipulations.
