The photo is well composed, but I can't say that I like the BW conversion. Black and whites like this live and die by contrast, and this conversion just isn't giving you enough.
What approach did you use? If you give us the original, we may have some suggestions for you.

Unfortunately, this isn't a conversion. This was back when I was still using the camera's black and white mode. I thought about messing with the contrast, but didn't have a go at it. I'd be interested to see what can be done. Feel free to edit and post...and thanks again!

My Bad!!! I don't remember for sure (didn't save the results) but I think I used a tiffen filter (warm) and did a curves adjustment. I've scanned old B&W photos and the camera my Aunt used (probably a "Brownie") always seemed to have a bluish cast that I find to be very cold looking. Maybe it was just her way of processing her photos [in the 50's].
