Decided to try and repair back to form a child memory of a statue in my village.

It's not the most subtle blend, but it's what my memory can bring forward!

"The Griffin" before;

"The Griffin" after;

Basically a lot of the blend tool in Photoshop.

I like the stone work on the bottom, but the face needs more work.

dalectrics, your memory's pretty good. Without the disclaimer and at this smaller size, I wouldn't have known it was post work. Good eye.
I don't have PS; is there a texturing tool for the upper lip? That would be the one area that looks less "stonelike" than the rest. Even adding "noise" might do it. Well done as is.
(Was it smiling originally?)

It looked quite sinister from what I can remember, Like I said the face needs work and adding texture to the lip is a good idea!

Thanks J

good job at the reconstruction! It is fairly obvious, though, that it's had some work done. The biggest giveaway is the texture. Where you've smudged it to bring back the pointed ear and the beak, you can see that instead of a stone texture, it's smooth and wavy. I would use the healing tool (are you using photoshop cs?) to bring the texture back.

I would work on the statue on a second layer, then mask out the background on that layer. If you look at the tip of its beak, the background all moves in to meet it (if that makes any sense).

great job, though! and with a little work, it'll be even better. :)
