I am looking to purchase a color card to be able to calibrate the colors in a series of outdoor or indoor shots. I have seen the kind that is fairly large, usually a model is holding it in the first shot of a series of shots.
Also, is there a forum that discusses color calibration among monitors, printers, papers etc.?
Appreciate the help.

What you want is a grey card. It can be any size just make sure it's 18% grey. If you need help actually using it I can help you with that too.
If you're looking to do portraits you might want to buy this series here. ( http://www.warmcards.com/digital_camera.html ) It's not too pricey and it works well. Just have the model fan them out like a deck of cards and snap a photo. Then continue with the rest of the shoot. Repeat each time you change lighting situations.

Thought you might want to see how the warmcards work.
On the left I set the white balance with the greycard, on the right I used one of the warm cards to make his skintone a little warmer.

Kristin,
thank you. I appreciate your reply. I understand the grey card (used them years ago when I shot film.)
I have noticed in some of the photo magazines that a series of portrait shots will begin with one of the model holding a card with a number of squares of color as well as grey. It is that sort of card that I would like to use to gauge the matching of color between various "darkroom" stages. Just a little more information while getting used to electronic production of images.
Again,
Thanks for your response,
Richard
