Hey, new member here. I too, would like to comment on your picture, but there isnt any. Nevertheless and as not to start a new thread, and to bring new life to this thread Id like to have some of the more experienced users opinions (or whoever has the camera) about the Canon PowerShot A640, because its the camera im looking forward to buy.

I was really drawn to the vari-angle display, as I like to take some weird-angled pictures.

Also the full manual mode, the 10 megapixels, and the superb battery life were majors too.

Anyhow I dont really feel that I can make the most of a full sized DSLR like the Canon EOS 20D (which is what I will someday have, or is succesor of course) so I thought that this camera was nice enough to get really started in serious photograpy and it also seems like a nice keeper when im really ready to upgrade to a DSLR.

Peace out:D

We may have some A640 users here; I know we have 620 owners. I wish I could comment on it for you, but I've never used one.

I have the A630 and love it. Funny story on how I got it. In my job a digital camera is a nice to to have for the sake of documenting different things. Someone at work decided that for a database update the images we needed had to be at least 4MP in rez and our camera's at the time were only 2.1MP. So they bought all of my counterparts and I new 8MP cameras only to find out that the database that caused the upgrade would only allow for a 100kilobyte file. So now I have a camera that I can use for my personal photographic ventures....with in reason of course. :)
