Hi friends,
I have two pictures I'd like to make one. I have a picture of a man I'd like to put over a picture of a flag for a presidential candidate funny. The only way I can think to get him over the flag, though, is to use some sort of "Paint" application and trace around his body, then cut and paste. And I don't want to do that...is there anything that could make it look a little more...I don't know, artistic, rather than the pixilation caused by Paint?
Thanks!

evan_david... welcome aboard! ...you know, I wanted to do something like this about 12 years ago and the application I downloaded then was Paint shop Pro.. so, maybe you could give it a go and see how you get on? the trial can be downloaded from corel -> HERE (http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Content/1152796555406)...

Hope it goes OK, message me if you'd like any help, or just post in the forums! there are some amazing people in here and all of them are really helpful so ask away.

love to see your results if you'd like to post them in here..

evan_david, Welcome

Not sure what you're describing as the result you want, nor what pixellation happens in the cut/paste step in paint. Months ago a friend (Fran) wondered how to do this and if it's any help, good luck:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/47146451@N00/864144216/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1259/864144216_067d250161_o.jpg" width="360" height="1080" alt="MothBlend" /></a>

Once you have two layers, all kinds of changes could get the artistic slant on things. Darken the flag, blur it, add noise and monotone. Distort man's shape, adjust flag to appear wrapped around him, have him holding a copied star from the flag. Make him negative, if he's not your favorite. Simple changes can make powerful images.

I can think of two ways, and both require halfway decent photo editing software (GIMP is a free download, or take advantage of all the commercial entities' 30 day free trials).

1. Take your picture of the guy, do a selection around the head (with maybe a little bit of space around, depending on background) and then cut it -- but make sure you have a large amount of feathering around the selection -- this will ensure a gradual transition.

2. Take the photo of your guy against a totally white or neutral background. Copy it into the flag shot as a separate layer, and then adjust blending mode and opacity until you are happy.
