i'm looking for a relatively inexpensive reverse macro ring for my 50mm 1.8 lens.

essentially what it does is screw in where the filter normally does (52mm for this lens although i have a 58mm adapter if the need be) and allows the front of the lens to mount directly to the camera. this results in a very close focus for macro shots.

i've found them for nikon lenses, but not canon lenses

is this what i need?

thanks!

If you get one, let us know how it works out.

finally came in the other day. real hard to focus since you have to move the littlest bit, but here was a first attempt

100% crop at 50mm

50mm mounted backwards, no crop

this is where a macro slider would come in handy :)

somebody else suggested i get an adapter to mount my 50mm backwards on another lens (i'd probably use the kit lens becaue of the smaller diameter) which would help with focusing.
either way, with this i just wanted to mess around a bit. it was $10 so if i use it twice or whatevever i'm good.
