I currently have a Canon Powershot S2 IS but I am thinking of upgrading it to the Canon Powershot S3 IS. Is there a big difference between the two? Should I even bother? What functions does the S3 have that I dont have with the S2?
Another reason why i want to upgrade is because of cosmetic reasons. I want to buy WA and Tele lens converter for my camera but they only come in black. I guess I just want everything to match. ;)
I need your help guys!! I need some professional advice.

I bought my S2 IS after the S3 came out, so I did choose it delibrately. The S3 does have a few more megapixals and is a sharp looking black. I believe it goes up to ISO 800 but I'm not sure how noisy it is. There are other differences but they seem to be pretty subtle and I really didn't understand what they meant. I ended up choosing the S2 because the price difference wasn't worth the upgrade in my mind.
So and this is just me, I would pass on that upgrade and save your money for a dSLR. With the S2, you can really push the limits of a P&S and you may find yourself wanting a dSLR sooner than you think. That comes from experience, I just bought the S2 this summer and sometimes I wish I had jumped to a dSLR instead. I might add that I'm pretty anal about matching too but I think I would suck it up and keep the S2.

I know what you mean... sometimes i wish that I spent a few more bucks and purchased a DSLR. Thanks for your input. By the way, do you have any lens converters? If so, which one and is it worth it?

i cant speak for the canon.. but i had converters for my Minolta Dimage Z5.. it wasn't good at all a total waste of $$i ended up sitting on my Minolta for 12mths before moving to my Nikon d50.. i suggest if you really think that you love photography this much wait and save for a DSLR...

No, I don't have any converters. I haven't really needed any yet and now that I'm finally feeling ready to take the next step to a dSLR, I'd rather put the money towards a new camera.

i have used the converter for S3 for WA and it is great ( polarizing filter screws into it too); haven't used it for tele yet; the reviews around state that upgrade from S2 to S3 subtle improvements only; for me as recent purchaser of an S3, the main issues were low weight for travelling photog, provision of variangle LCD, and avoiding the dust problem with lens changes with dSLR's; am happy so far with the S3; if i went dSLR later, i would want the dust problem convincingly solved ( do the new dust shakers really work?) and would like a vari-angle LCD such as the S3 provides ( and it is excellent for me).
