After this edit, the leaf on left seemed too close to side of frame, so it has been copied and moved a little to the right. Description is generic because program is PhotoDeluxe.

Much improved for the post production work. There is perhaps a little too much contrast between the brightness of the leaves and the dullness of the twigs in the final version but provides a much better balance between the two.

Nice work... As Wulf said the contrast doesnt match perfectly.. esp. the bigger branch has too much of contrast.. unless you are bringing the leaves & buds into more focus...

Great post-processing. The resulting two shades of brown on the branches, and improved texture definition are wonderful.

A vignette or gradient applied to the background, rather than making it completely black, is another option to make the brown colors stand out and provide attractive contrast.

Good God, a trip down Memory Lane! In May I had just become familiar with the idea of Layers and saw the Old Branch here supported by the New One in bright Sun. Thinking the leaves more a sign of Life, the emphasis went to them, so the branch had to recede more into the background. Then the Title to suggest this was an altered photo.
