IS Body-IS Lens? (New A100), Lenses to shoot rowing?

I just joined DPS and this is my first post. I just got my first DSLR, a Sony alpha (A100). My old DSLR-like Olympus E100RS is showing its age. Does anyone know if there is an advantage or disadvantage or perhaps a problem with an IS lens if you already have an IS body?

Shooting rowing often occurs in early morning hours, on water, and cloudy conditions.
Which Minolta lenses might be good for shooting rowing events and practices for pleasure and for training purposes? ...IS or not.

Not sure if anyone makes an IS style lens for Sony/Minolta Alpha mount but would think that it would not be a good idea anyway as the two systems would compete with other and cause more image quality degredation rather than less. Besides IS lenses are VERY expensive.

My reasoning here is based on my experiance using a tripod for long exposures with the IS turned on and off. The images are sharper with it off in this case as the IS tries to correct movement that is'nt there in the first place.

Ewie - concise reply! I won't look for those costly IS lenses - online buzz suggested lens IS was better than body IS. I won't worry about it. I have my alpha and will go with it. From the looks of your photos - I found a good camera. Thanks for the tip on turning IS off with tripod use.
