How does Sigma AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS (Optical Stabilizer) compare to its equivalent the Nikon VR lens. I konw the price is a hell lot better and easy on the pocket when it comes to the Sigma lens but I guess what I am asking is, what this low price a reflection of? quality, technology (VR/OS) or both??

I know its a bit early to be comparing the Sigma lens since it releases in May but any help would be great. Thanks :-)

Look at it here:

I've been waiting for this lens for awhile now. Sounds like it would be a great travel lens. I figured I would wait awhile after it comes out before I would consider it; I'd like to read reviews of actual users first. I don't know how it would compare to the Nikon lens-I'm a Canon user-but I'd be interested in how it compares to the Tamron AF 18-250 mm Di-II lens.

I personally think Sigma lenses kick ass. I mean, I bought a 15mm fisheye and i'm very impressed. Probably even better than some of my nikon lenses. I luv nikon....but most of the times the price is too high and u probably pay $100 more just because of the name

I think this lens got delayed. Hopefully it is out soon though! I can't wait to read some reviews. I heard rumor that Sigma is going to make an HSM version of this lens for Nikon

I don't know about the sigma but I have the tamron AF18-250mm Di-II and it is a great lens. Great range, very sharp, good colors. Only thing that is bad about it is there is a decent bit of barrel distortion and there is a some vignetting when shooting at 18mm range. But over all it is a great lens for the price. True that it does not have image stabilization but for the price I think it is a good buy. Of course I dont know anything about the Sigma so maybe it will be better I dunno.

Thanks, Rex, for letting me know about the Tamron. I like to gather lots of info before I buy anything :)!

there's a few reviews up on the amazon site. though it seems like the people are reviewing the canon version. i think this got a pretty good review in the latest popular photography.
