Seems like your about half a second late on the trigger. Having the ball behind the teal player is a little confusing, it'd be better if you had gotten it just coming off the white player's foot.

You stopped the action well. But I agree with jdepould about snapping a little sooner. However, this does show you how fast things move in real life. The ball is behind him, and the kid still looks like his afraid he is about to get hit. Also, I know you can't move moutains, but you might try a different point of view. The fact that the hill are running through their heads kind of distracts me. Great focus by the way.

All that being said, there is something about having the ball in what is traditionally seen as the wrong spot that attracts me to this one.

I understand soccer so this shot was completely understandable from a sports aspect. Also, depending on what you prefer for emotion, this shot delivers more or more than if you had captured the ball coming off the foot, IMO.

i think its a great shot.....and as a soccer mom i'd be thrilled to get that close and get those expressions.... the ball seems in a weird spot but its obvious who kicked it.....are there subsequent pics before/after? Nice vibrant color on their uniforms.

Maybe a little motion blur on the ball would help?

Wow, that IS intense! As Han Solo said, "Great shot, kid! That was one in a million!"

Seriously, the blur I think does add to the effect of the shot. But honestly, what can you do? These action sports move so fast-people say you were half a second late on the trigger, so you were, but really folks, can that be helped? I mean it just seems to me that some people act like you have all the time in the world to time this. Shouldn't we give true constructive criticism, like maybe next time do this, or that? I don't think anyone can truly time shots exactly. The only way is by using a FAST burst mode and taking 25 shots and picking out the best.

LOVE the intensity in the kid's face! The motion on the ball is an awesome idea! Makes sense to me now. Good job everyone!

Just because the ball isn't in the same position as a lot of these photos have it, doesn't mean that it's in the wrong spot. I see the position of the players and then the movement of the ball and think it's a great shot. Very good job. I think this is above average.

It looks like the ball went through the goalkeeper's body (with the blur), which is very interesting. The hill line helps to compare the players' height: the goalkeeper looks like a giant and the intense boy is the shortest in the group, so call it David and Goliat...:D

I would crop a little tighter, that is, the left hand side of the frame should be just on the other side of the ball. It would help in the depletion of uninterseting space below the ball. Give it a shot and see what happens.
