Recommendations on printing photos?

I would like to have some of my pictures printed with good, quality results. Results that really allow people to enjoy the photo, since I plan on framing them.

I have seen several posts recommending mPix, but have never tried them myself. I was just wondering if there are any recommendations for good photo printing sites that aren't overly expensive.
Also, are there certain papers or formats (matte, glossy, luster, pearle, etc.) that do a better job?

I would hate to have to spend my money on having a photo printed only to get it and think ... boy this was a great picture, too bad it wasn't printed properly. It's also hard to know what effects certain printing styles will give, so I would like to hear from others on what results they got.

Any comments on any of these aspects would be greatly appreciated!

end of story. they're not that much more expensive than anywhere else and their quality is top notch which if you found the other post i'm sure you read. if for some reason they print a picture and the color is off they'll even reprint it for you. what more can you ask for?!
you can't really expect to pay nothing and get the best quality, can you? i've printed hundreds of photos through them and i haven't been dissatisfied with a single print.

Another vote for mpix :p I ordered a gallery wrap print for my mother for her birthday and she loved it (I'm still waiting to see pictures of it). Good prices, quick turnaround, and like Matt said, if the colour is off, they'll even reprint it.

Sounds like mPix is the way to go.:)
I just wanted to hear some opinions before I chose someplace. I have heard nothing but good things about them and they seem very reasonable.

Does anyone have a paper recommendation - either the regular "e-paper" or the metallic? The pictures are of butterflies, flowers, and sunsets. (All differents pictures, of course.)

i have never ordered anything other than their standard paper (no metallic or true B&W), but again, have never had a problem with my order after hundreds of prints through them.

I've seen a lot of prints from their site (MPIX) and quite franckly, I still prefer the Fuji Printer at the Sam's Club. For the price and accessiblity, you can't beat it. I've gotten to know the three operators really well. They can do all of my work, up to 11x14 usually in one hour. And I can upload from home via the internet then pick it up.

They even have a really nice Poster Board and Roll Paper printer that will print from 11x14 up to 20x30 - in ONE HOUR for under $30! Great for Skateboard/surfsport posters for the locals here in Florida.

In the uk, a couple of magazines reviewed all the main labs and decided that photobox was the best overall in terms of quality price and service. I just ordered a free sample (30prints) from them 2 days ago, should arrive tommorow, I'll let you know on quality.
