How do I get my camera to do this? I know what it is (where the image appears to have light trails behind it) but I'm not sure what to set my camera to to achieve this effect. I have a Canon 300D.
I would like to take some night shots and/or shots of moving objects with trails behind them.

***I have been "into" photography for a long time, but never have been able to get technical. I am hoping to be able to learn more about the technical side so I can do more. I have had quite a few great pictures, but they seem to be based more on luck than on my actual knowledge(unfortunately).***

the rear curtain sync is what I meant. How do I set my camera to do that? I have a Canon 300d.

I have never tried this effect, but the Canon 350 and 400 manuals say you can use flash sync speed in the custom function section (C.Fn-9). Not sure about the 300d. Does this help?

I think he/she is talking about nightshots with the motion blur, you know of traffic and the such moving

I think you are correct Knickers. You change the curtain sync in the custom functions. On my 20D it is C.fn 15. I have a choice of 1st or 2nd. Just find the custom functions on your 300D and scroll through them until you find "Shutter Curtain Sync".

I'm wondering the same thing about the fujifilm s9000... anyone know if its possible to do a rear curtain? I can get front-curtain no problem, but dont see any options for rear. Thanks
