Hi,

This is my first attempt at photo manipulation. I was going for a pseudo painted effect with deep tones

This is a crop of a larger image that I took with a Nokia N95 camera phone (I was at work without my usual camera).

I decided to focus on reflections of the trees and rocks in the water

I created 3 layers in elements 5 and applied Gausian blur to each layer.
Next I applied blending types of hard light and vivid light to each of the layers respectively.

Any comments on this image would be appreciated.

the reflection needs to be the main focus on this picture, but the glowing yellow on the rocks is very distracting. I would dull the rocks down and try to move the focus to the reflections. The reflections look very good. I may would play with the levels and curves a little bit also to bring out the reflection a little more as well

You might have something unique here. If you take 20 more like this and print them out, spend some money and get them framed, you can approach the galleries and maybe have a showing. Who knows, you might be the next Andy Warhol he he. ;)

This really looks like the orton effect. I think the rocks are much more intresting to look at then the reflection. The dark tones don't lend well to bluring however the rocks do. This effect may have worked better on a diffrent scene or the same scene with a larger field of view. Try looking up orton effect and see if you like that it's easy to recreate digitally.

So dreamy. Composition and manipulation are both GREAT. I love it.

Pretty interesting, given the original source.

I like the reflections but I feel like the rocks are too dominant if you want the focus to be the reflection. Maybe toning down the brightness of the rocks a little would be better.

wow! I always wanted to take a water nature reflection thing... but the water is always moving... maybe because of the wind...

nice effect... looks like paradise... =)

Hi again,

I tried to take the advice given about bringing outthe reflections. I have managed to dull down the rocks a bit and reomeved the yellow patches.

I feel this one looks a bit better. Any comments would be appreciated

ps ILovephotos the picture was taken at Edinburgh Park (a business park in Scotland) which is quite far from paradise.... actually it is quite near a shopping centre :)

Very well done. I'm not sure I can offer any constructive criticism. I think you did a good job.
