Hi friends! This is my first real time at using textures on photoshop, and I'd love your thoughts, opinions, critiques. I know she's a little pale, but I tried to do that in contrast to the greenery. THANKS!

I think you did a nice job blending it into the image. I see a lot of these texture images that just look like hack jobs or are used to try and "IMPROVE" a photo but ends up just damaging it more. I may have spent a little time cloning out the branches in the upper left of the frame it may just be me but my eyes keep going to them. I'm not sure about reducing the saturation on her skin. Do you have the orginal you can post? The greens and yellows are very nice but they draw the eye away from the girl. Perhaps just a little color in the girl could help.
BTW Where abouts are in near Detriot? I am in Ann Arbor

hey i like the textures
but i think that the girl tone is not skin tone enough... yes it's pale...
the oclor combination is nice.. you have green, and yellow..
nice shot but i dont get any story from the picture :)

Thanks for those suggestions...as I look at it more and more, I think she does need a little more warmth for her skin, but not too much...I think it's a little too ashy, and might need more white than black tone in her face.
Does anyone know the general technique for creating great textured images? I applied the texture, reduced the opacity, and changed it to hard light...then I painted back in her face so it wasn't covered by the texture.
Does anyone know of any tutorials or examples of really great textured images?
thanks!!

Textures are one of those things that you just have to play with until you find the right one/style in ps that looks good for that particular photo. I really like what you did with this one, the texture isn't overdone, it certainly enhances the picture. I think if you tried something a little different for skin tone it would be perfect - something more gold or a light brown so she doesn't look sickly. And the branches being cloned out as Murtasma suggested.

I think that looks quite good, the main subjects is a lill "dead alive" or is that just her natural skin colour :P It looks as if the paint has been washed of the drawing so to speak and i really must say that you did a good job postprocessing!

I really like the texture, but the skin tone does look "dead alive". Great photo though!

Looks pretty nice, though I think I'd prefer having everything textured, including the face.
