i was trying to get that "Sleepy Hollow" effect.

please tell me what you think. :)

give my the good, bad, and the ugly of it.
i want to learn.

How do i get the EXIF when it's not in Flickr?

well, the EXIF is still not showing in flickr but here's the settings i used:

f/9
metering: matrix/evaluative
ISO: 500 (oops, forgot to change it from the night before)
Focal Length: 55mm

what program are you using? Usually you can go under image information and your exif info is there. other times you can try right clicking and going to properties and it might show it there.
One thing you may want to consider is straightening out. The horizon is off so it looks like that big head stone is gonna fall over.

I think I like the crooked horizon. It kind of works in this picture.

I'd consider straightening it out. I'd compare the two and decide what's better.

As a former goth (evidently I'm far too happy to be goth...) I think you succeeded! I also agree about straightening the image though... at least upright the stone :)

i really like how the path on the right leads somewhere. the crooked stone could go either way. I usually prefer crooked.

I figured the stone was crooked in real life (since that's what all the stones in our old cemetery look like) but the image doesn't strongly support that idea. When I look at the image, I first see the stone leaning to the right, I see a few upright stones behind it, but then I see the horizon sliding downward on the right behind all of that, almost at the same angel the stone is leaning... To make that idea stronger, I would pull the frame back more, maybe adding another tall, upright stone to confirm that it is the stone leaning, not you :)

I like the shot... I figured that the stone was crooked in reality, and also figured that the fall line of the hill faded off on the right side....

I'm curious how it would look if it were under exposed just a little bit more...

Great pic though...

I'm not a graveyard kinda person. But here's the story behind the shot.

I had planned on going to a state park to take some pics but my daughter called me and wanted the car for the gym, she refuses to get up when I go, 22yr olds!

I came back home and pouted some and forced myself to logon DPS (not true, I live on this forum!) I found a thread containing Saralonde's list of things that inspire her and graveyards happened to be on that list.

Living in a small, central Pennsylvania, town there just happens to be a graveyard within walking distance from my house. Since a co-worker and his significant other are really into Halloween, I hoped I could get one shot for them.

Junior's right, the mountains also dip down on the right horizon.

BUT! I like Liz's suggestion to show perspective. It sounds like I'm sucking up and I sound like a broken record.

However, the advice you WONDERFUL people give is priceless. I've been actively shooting since 2/7/08. I'm a major noob. To have people talented as you all are taking the time critique my shoots, taking them seriously, is a very humbling experience.

To say I'm grateful is an understatement.

Hmmm...the horizon being off is distracting to me, as is the extraneous noise. You might consider toning down the noise just a touch...but mostly, i love the treatment. Quite goth.
