Now I know this isnt the greatest photo in the universe but I'm just learning mask layers. Up until now they had me so confused i just never tried them. Now I am. My question is when you create your mask and you are painting in black to cover up areas how do you get into those tight little areas like the toes?
I tried over painting them and then going back with white but just cant seem to get the edges int he tight spots to look quite right.

Layers are tough for me, too, which is why I do so little editing. But this is an interesting question so I hope someone comes up with an answer.

Have you tried zooming in really close and using a hard brush on the mask? When I do masks 90% of the time I am just using the brush. Use black to mask that part of the layer off and white to bring it back.

Murtsama, a brush is what I am using , is there another way?

I use paths instead of brushes. It's just a whole lot easier IMO, and gives you much tighter control.

Take a look at this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNfBF2xvhaE) to get an idea of how they work if you've never touched them before.

a path might work better on this type of situation although zooming in real close and using a smaller brush with the hardness increased you can go pixel by pixel if you want.
It gets time consuming.......

I'm not so sure I can do that in Paint Shop pro. I can use the lasso tool the same as the path tool (pretty much) but cant sem to find where I would add a layer mask
